Needs & Benefits
The Nexus suite is the central PKI system in the top-secured Trust Centre of the Bundeswehr (German military) and covers all parts of the life cycle management of the eDTA (electronic military ID card) for 250,000 soldiers and employees:
- Nexus Certificate Manager (CC EAL3+ evaluated and confirmed according to the German law of signature; SigG) handles the issue of all certificates, the electronic personalisation and the life cycle management of the eDTA.
- Nexus Servant OCSP delivers OCSP information according to V-PKI policy and German law of signature (SigG).
- Nexus Time Stamp Server provides time stamps within the law.
- Nexus Personal is used as client middleware for the usage of crypto graphical functionalities for the eDTA.
One major challenge was the realisation of the security demands based on the administration PKI and the general conditions of the German law of signature for the issuing of qualified signatures.
A further challenge was the integration of Nexus CM in a proprietary HR system based on its CM-SDK interface.
This huge project was realized together with partners like T-Systems and BWI Systeme GmbH.
